Organizations

Heimische Menschen is a group for older Jews in the local community. Events have included holiday celebrations in nursing homes, educational talks, Shabbat dinners, and so on.

Sisters in Spirit is a womens' group which raises funds for Congregation Brit Shalom. In past years their programs have included: a silent auction, congregation-wide rummage sales, sales parties, and so on.

Yachad is an informal singles group for Jews in the State College area. Group activities include potluck meals, hikes, trips to local cultural activities and restaurants, and parties for Jewish holidays. Members span a wide range of ages (mid-20s through 60s), professions, and backgrounds. Yachad provides a casual, friendly atmosphere in which Jews can socialize with other Jews and meet members of the local community whom they might not otherwise get to know.

Yiddish Club organizes gatherings and events for celebration and sharing of theYiddish language..

Youth Group: At this writing the Youth Committee hopes to organize a youth group for local Jewish youth, to be affiliated with the North American Federation of Temple Youth (NFTY).

Zamarim rehearses and performs Jewish choral music for holiday celebrations.
