We have creative Baby-naming ceremonies for girls, and for brit milah, a member of our congregation, Dr. Ted Ziff, is a certified mohel. There are about a dozen Bnei Mitzvah a year at Brit Shalom. We have a two-year family education program in preparation for Bnei Mitzvah (‘minyanaires’) along with one-on-one Torah study with the Rabbi. High School students have a Confirmation ceremony at Shavuot. In regard to funerals, we have a Chevre Kaddisha, Shivah minyanim and a Jewish section of the local cemetery.
We have first-day services for the major Holidays (two days for Rosh Hashanah) as well as Yizkor services. We also have services for Yom Ha-Shoah, Tisha B’av and a Seder for Tu B’shevat. A wonderful cantor joins us for High Holiday services. We also have a second-day community Pesach Seder.
Friday night services are at 7:30 p.m. (6 p.m. through August 25) and Saturday mornings at 10. Monthly Kiddie Shabbat Services with a Pizza Potluck are very well attended. A Friday night ‘Shabbat Across America’ annual service and dinner draws large crowds.
